Driving Transformation - Connecting Central Europe
The Drive2Transform project supports the automotive sector in managing the transformation process through the development of a cross-regional strategy and the use of an open transformation platform.
International Readiness Index: methodology and added value
The international readiness index forms the central basis of the Drive2Transform project. Companies use a structured online interview (approx. 45 minutes) to determine their status quo in key areas of transformation. Participants then receive an individual evaluation and categorisation of their results. Specifically, the Readiness Index shows where the company stands in comparison to its own region and the European average. On this basis, options for further development can be derived.
The survey covers four key areas that are decisive for the future of the mobility and logistics sector. These assessment categories of the Readiness Index include technological and digital trends and are analysed individually. This allows companies to specifically recognise the areas in which they already have strengths and where there is a need to catch up. An overview of the categories and content:
What will be assessed?
- Electrification: Future of electromobility (batteries, charging infrastructure, power electronics)
- Automation: Technologies for autonomous driving & driver assistance systems
- Connectivity: Smart communication & data networking (V2X, cloud, infotainment)
- Platform economy: Digital platforms for mobility services (ride sharing, fleet management)
Added value for companies: Participation in the Readiness Index offers companies several advantages. Firstly, the tool enables benchmarking, i.e. a neutral comparison of their own performance with other companies. Secondly, companies receive specific recommendations for action that help them to recognise potential and exploit opportunities at an early stage. The analysis also helps to strengthen competitiveness and market position through sound insights. Last but not least, the project promotes dialogue within a Europe-wide network, which creates synergies and enables new opportunities for cooperation to be discovered. Overall, the Readiness Index makes the abstract transformation process tangible for companies and highlights clear next steps.
Facts and figures
- 140+ companies - Over 140 companies from various regions in Europe have already taken part in the Readiness Interview as of April 2025. The survey is still ongoing and new participants are added every week.
- International benchmarking - The broad participation creates a reliable data pool for benchmarks. Each company can see anonymised where it stands in a regional and European comparison, which enables a unique reality check of its future viability.
- Concrete follow-up measures - The results have already led to the identification of a large number of activities that can be implemented. The Cluster Mobility & Logistics uses the findings to derive targeted offers (workshops, cooperations, funding information) for the cluster members.
Outlook and contact
The positive interim results show: Drive2Transform is making a valuable contribution to making transformation progress measurable and providing companies with guidance. The Readiness Index will be rolled out further in the coming months - interested companies can join the programme on an ongoing basis and benefit from participating. Take the opportunity to put your future readiness to the test now!
