From October 29 to 31, 2025, the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP) held its EU-India Matchmaking Event in New Delhi. The aim was to bring together European and Indian players along key value chains in the field of green and digital technologies in a structured manner. Fourteen European clusters met with potential Indian partners to initiate new collaborations in the fields of renewable energies, electric mobility, smart grid and energy infrastructure, and clean tech solutions. The event thus followed on directly from the ECCP mission as part of the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2024.
The Cluster Mobility & Logistics took part in this year's event to explore the location and return to Regensburg with new insights. An excellently organized matchmaking event on October 29 offered extensive opportunities for bilateral exchange with more than 15 Indian companies in attendance, including those from the fields of electric and micro-mobility and hydrogen. A visit to the large Renewable Energy India Expo 2025 on October 30, as well as tours of various organizations, including the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) on October 31, ensured a comprehensive, precisely tailored, and impressive program for the delegation trip.
Strategic course setting: EU-India partnership
The event fitted seamlessly into the EU's strategic line of promoting green and digital transformation together with India. The EU-India Strategic Agenda, newly published in 2025, and the free trade agreement between the EU and India announced for the end of 2025 demonstrate the outstanding importance of these relations. This was further emphasized by the remarkable EU presence at the Renewable Energy India Expo on October 30, 2025, in the person of Dr. Ewa Sawara, Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Union to India, and the German Ambassador to India, Dr. Philipp Ackermann.
The series of ECCP EU-India Matchmaking Events – the mission in Bengaluru in 2024 and the event in New Delhi in 2025 – strengthens the connection between European and Indian innovation and industrial locations. The event thus contributed to internationalizing value chains for clean energy, sustainable mobility, and digital solutions, and opening up new cooperation options for clusters and SMEs.
India is also coming into focus in the region: 2026 will be the “Focus Year India” at the IHK Regensburg für Oberpfalz und Kelheim.
