Working Group on Embedded AI in Manufacturing | Background

Industrial production is increasingly becoming a data-driven environment. Embedded AI enables data to be processed and analyzed directly within machines and systems, without having to go through central servers. This opens up new opportunities for improving efficiency, ensuring quality, and enabling real-time capabilities. At the same time, challenges related to computing power, integration, standards, and security must be addressed.

Goals & Benefits | of the Working Group

Goal of the working group

  • Exchange of ideas on technologies, applications, and challenges related to embedded AI
  • Identification of relevant use cases and best practices from industrial applications
  • Promotion of collaboration and the initiation of joint projects
  • Discussion of standards, interfaces, and framework conditions

Topics

  • New motor and battery technologies (efficiency, charging infrastructure, energy management)
  • Smart technologies: sensors, connectivity, digital control systems
  • Sustainability and the circular economy (materials, production, recycling)
  • Interoperability with public transportation, vehicles, and smart cities
  • Data integration, standardization, and secure networking

Organization

The working group meets up to four times a year (virtual meetings and in-person workshops). The meetings are intended to facilitate the exchange of experiences, the gathering of ideas, and project development.
