Project summary

The ongoing transformation of the automotive and supplier industry particularly affects the automotive region of Regensburg: The phasing out of old combustion engine technologies poses major challenges, especially for small and medium-sized companies.

To support the transformation, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate (BMWK) is promoting transformation networks throughout Germany. In the Regensburg region, the Mobility & Logistics Cluster and the Sensor Technology Cluster are taking on the task of setting up such a network and are receiving funding of 2.3 million euros for this purpose.

"Getting fit for the future" is the motto of the joint transform.r project, in which numerous new opportunities for qualification, cooperation and networking will be created by the end of 2025 to ensure a sufficient number of skilled workers in the region.

The project started on 01.07.2022. The duration of the project is 36 months.

transform.r services & activities

With around 350,000 employees, the Bavarian automotive industry is a key industry for employment, growth and innovation. Regensburg is one of the strongest growth regions in Germany. In addition to OEMs, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are largely responsible for the success of the automotive industry. Companies and their employees face major challenges: New job profiles are emerging with the transition to e-mobility. Often, the capacities of small and medium-sized companies are not sufficient to tackle this challenge on their own and ensure adequate training of their employees.

The two clusters Mobility & Logistics and Sensor Technology are supporting regional companies in this transformation and aim to develop a common vision: How should the future look like for the regional automotive industry in 2030? With its actions, the project thus also provides valuable information for a Bavaria-wide network that is developing a comprehensive strategic approach for Bavaria lead by Bayern Innovativ. The Ingolstadt region, the Nuremberg metropolitan region and the Mainfranken regiopolitan region are also involved.
