On November 12, 2025, TechBase Regensburg hosted the launch of the Cluster Mobility & Logistics' new initiative, “QuantenImpuls Regensburg”. The format is dedicated to the future technology of quantum computing and brings together stakeholders from business, science, and administration.
A total of 17 companies and institutions took part, many of them from the region, supplemented by participants who traveled from Hamburg to Prien am Chiemsee.
After a welcome by Uwe Pfeil, cluster manager of the Cluster Mobility & Logistics, Steve Schumann, project manager and contact person for the initiative, presented the goals and planned activities of QuantenImpuls Regensburg. The focus was on building knowledge, creating synergies, and developing joint project ideas to further strengthen technology transfer in the region.
In the keynote speeches, Lukas Schmidbauer (OTH Regensburg) gave a scientific overview of quantum computing, while Erik Schulze (Eviden) showed what the path “from the lab to application” can look like in industry.
The interactive workshop in World Café format formed the heart of the morning: In three groups, the participants discussed the topics of quantum security, quantum optimization, and quantum industry readiness. The workshop was moderated by OTH Regensburg (Lukas Schmidbauer), OptWare GmbH (Dr. Vanessa Junk), and the Cluster Mobility & Logistics (Steve Schumann). This resulted in numerous ideas and a shared view of the opportunities, challenges, and fields of application for quantum computing – with a strong focus on the economy.
The event concluded with intensive discussions and new contacts over lunch. A follow-up meeting has already been arranged.
The “QuantenImpuls Regensburg” initiative was launched by the Cluster Mobility & Logistics together with its two members OTH Regensburg (Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Mauerer) and OptWare GmbH. The aim is to raise awareness of the future-oriented topic of quantum computing and to establish a central point of contact for exchange, knowledge transfer, and cooperation.
