Thanks to AI: New Approaches in Transportation Logistics

03/19/2026

Kickoff event in cooperation with the Regensburg Logistics Initiative

The event “AI in Transport Logistics,” held on March 18, 2026, at TechBase Regensburg, marked the kickoff for a practical discussion on the use of artificial intelligence in transport logistics.

Jointly organized by the Regensburg Logistics Initiative and the Clusters AIR Artificial Intelligence Regensburg and Mobility & Logistics as part of the transform.r project, the event focused in particular on the concrete benefits in everyday business operations. In their welcoming remarks, Robert Praschl, Chairman of the Regensburg Logistics Initiative e.V., and Uwe Pfeil, Cluster Manager for AIR and Mobility & Logistics, emphasized the opportunity to exchange ideas and learn from one another within the region.

The program’s highlight was the practical presentation by Andreas Weinhut, Managing Director of WEINHUT GmbH. He demonstrated how, as an entrepreneur in logistics, he uses generative AI and has achieved a massive increase in efficiency. Weinhut emphasized that AI should not be viewed merely as a tool. Rather, he described how he interacts with AI agents as if they were team members and that they must also be properly trained.

One tip is to first take the time to craft high-quality prompts. Only by providing clear and detailed input can you quickly achieve reliable and precise results. A practical tip was to speak the content aloud, as this is faster and more intuitive than typing. Use cases such as documenting tours or dubbing videos in multiple languages highlighted the technology’s versatility.

Uwe Pfeil explored the topic further using another application example and demonstrated how AI tools can be used to create engaging presentation slides in just a few minutes. Afterward, the participants took the opportunity to engage in an in-depth discussion and identified interesting topics for future group meetings.

NOTE

The event was part of the German federal government’s Transformation Networks (funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, BMWE). The Regensburg-based project transform.r supports companies in navigating structural change in the automotive industry.
