On January 27, 2026, 25 participants in the Regensburg Quantum Impulse working group met online to set the course for the deployment of quantum technologies in the region. In an interactive format, they examined current trends, discussed technological potential, and defined concrete next steps.
Insights from Science and Industry
Three expert presentations provided in-depth insights into the current state of development:
- Dr. Andreas Böhm (Bayern Innovativ GmbH): Explained the role of ThinkNet Quantum Technology as a bridge between research and industry to translate profound technological innovations into marketable applications.
- Dr. Thomas Hußlein (OptWare GmbH): Shed light on quantum technologies from a business perspective and provided valuable insights into roadmaps and the identification of business-relevant use cases.
- Sarah Volkamer (Fraunhofer IIS): Presented the work of the “Quantum Compilation Group” and explained how specialized software solutions facilitate access to quantum hardware and accelerate practical implementation.
Workshop Review and Strategic Outlook
Steve Schumann from the Cluster Mobility & Logistics moderated the event and presented the results of the previous workshop phases as well as an overview of the next steps.
He also highlighted current funding opportunities, such as the Germany-Canada bilateral call, which supports joint research and innovation projects with clear industry ties.
