Cluster Mobility & Logistics visits Michelin in Cuneo

10/15/2026

5th International Conference of the International Network of Michelin Cities (INMC)

On October 6, 2026, the Cluster Mobility & Logistics visited the Michelin tire factory in Cuneo. The visit took place as part of the 5th International Conference of the International Network of Michelin Cities (INMC), of which the city of Regensburg is a member.

Simone Rossi, factory manager at the Cuneo site, welcomed the delegation members and gave them a tour of the visitor center. Special emphasis was placed on the innovative approach to reducing tire noise on the road—which is particularly essential for electric vehicles, where the source of noise comes almost exclusively from the tires. Michelin has been based in Cuneo for 120 years and today produces only passenger car tires at the site. At the time of the visit, autonomous vehicles and the use of robots were already commonplace in the plant’s intralogistics operations. Over 90% of the energy consumed by the plant comes directly from the site via Michelin’s partner, EDISON Next.

To round off the event, Michelin—as the namesake and founder of the global INMC network—invited the approximately 70 international guests to a dinner at the adjacent Michelin Sports Club.

The INMC conference takes place every two years at different locations and aims to promote cooperation among the participating cities and regions. A key component is the Corridor of Incubators (COI), which TechBase manages for the Regensburg chapter. The COI enables innovative startups to explore new markets on-site through targeted networking and personalized support.
