Uwe Pfeil, Cluster Manager of Cluster Mobility & Logistics and AIR – Artificial Intelligence Regensburg, and an experienced networker within the European innovation landscape, has been appointed by the European Commission to the prestigious Expert Group on Cluster Policy. This appointment is not only a personal achievement but also underscores the high level of recognition for Regensburg’s cluster work at EU level.
The selection was made as part of a public application process and is based on clearly defined quality and selection criteria.
As a member of the expert group, Pfeil will in future take part in key discussions on the further development of European cluster policy. The aim of the group is to provide impetus for European competitiveness, promote knowledge transfer and strengthen innovation ecosystems across Europe.
The two clusters, Mobility & Logistics and AIR – Artificial Intelligence Regensburg, are projects run by the municipal company TechBase Regensburg GmbH. Managing Director Alexander Rupprecht offers his congratulations: “This appointment is a strong signal of the excellence of our cluster work. It shows that what is being developed here in Regensburg is regarded as exemplary across Europe.”
Pfeil brings more than 15 years’ experience in establishing and managing clusters. He was named European Cluster Manager of the Year back in 2020. Most recently, he was responsible for EU-funded projects such as Drive2Transform, which supports SMEs in the automotive sector through the transition. The Cluster Mobility & Logistics has been awarded the European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ECEI) Gold Label on several occasions.
Pfeil expressed his delight at the appointment: “I am very pleased to be part of the European Commission’s new Expert Group on Cluster Policy. It is an important body for shaping the future of cluster policy in Europe and for contributing our experiences from Regensburg.”
The appointment marks another milestone in the internationalisation and professionalisation of Cluster Mobility & Logistics and AIR – Artificial Intelligence Regensburg, and is a recognition of the Regensburg region’s commitment to the European innovation landscape.
