Uwe Pfeil heads the IT Logistics Cluster and the E-Mobility Cluster Regensburg. He has now been awarded the title of “European Cluster Manager 2020” for his work.
At the European Cluster Conference from November 10 to 11, Uwe Pfeil was elected “European Cluster Manager 2020”. Pfeil, who heads the Regensburg e-mobility cluster and the IT logistics cluster, is the first cluster manager from Germany to receive this award. The European competition brings together cluster managers from all European countries, specialists and experts for clusters and cluster topics.
After a multi-stage selection process involving numerous cluster managers, Uwe Pfeil was nominated as one of three finalists for the award and won the vote. “Personally, I am of course very pleased to have been elected European Cluster Manager 2020,” said Uwe Pfeil. “But it is also a special honor for the entire cluster team and for the successful cooperation between all cluster members.” Alexander Rupprecht, managing director of R-Tech GmbH, which manages the two technology clusters, added: "We are very happy for Uwe Pfeil about this award. This is certainly also a confirmation of the successful cluster policy of the city of Regensburg. And it is proof that Regensburg as a business location has an important voice in shaping the future of the European cluster landscape."
The IT Logistics Cluster and the E-Mobility Cluster Regensburg were established in 2011 and have been representing the interests of their approximately 100 members ever since. R-Tech GmbH has been participating in national and international funding projects with its network for over 11 years. Since 2009, the amount of funding in the clusters has totaled 16 million euros, and the cluster networks have participated in over 60 funding projects to date.
Both clusters are members of the “go-cluster” program of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). This makes them two of the most efficient cluster management organizations in Germany. The IT Logistics Cluster has also been awarded the Silver Label by the European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ECEI). In fall 2021, the IT Logistics Cluster and the E-Mobility Cluster Regensburg will celebrate their 10th anniversary.
