Look back at the Regensburg Automotive Industry Strategy Dialogue Annual Conference

12/08/2025

Strengthening the network, shaping change

On 8 December 2025, stakeholders from the automotive industry, suppliers, companies from the mobility and logistics sectors, as well as representatives from local government and city politics, gathered at the TechBase Regensburg Innovation Centre for the annual ‘Strategy Dialogue on the Automotive Industry in Regensburg’ conference. The event was organised by the Cluster Mobility & Logistics transformation network, transform.r, which is spearheading the dialogue on the future of the automotive industry in the region.

The event focused on cross-sector dialogue and the presentation of current and planned flagship projects, with the aim of actively shaping structural change in the automotive and mobility sectors in the Regensburg region.

Following a welcome address by Alexander Rupprecht (Managing Director, TechBase Regensburg) and Uwe Pfeil (Cluster Manager, Cluster Mobility & Logistics), a panel discussion took place with decision-makers from numerous companies and institutions — including representatives from business, academia and local government.

This was followed by the presentation of region-specific projects:

The Smart Dynamic Public Lighting project by sdp GmbH, the joint battery module line by Webasto Roof & Components SE (Schierling site) and Sonplas GmbH, the Mobility Data Hub, in cooperation with the City of Regensburg and Stadtwerk Regensburg.Mobilität GmbH, and the Energieareal Regensburg Ost – ERO project for the production of green electricity (BERR eG).

These initiatives illustrate the breadth of the transformation: from smart infrastructure and sustainable energy supply to data-driven mobility and future-oriented battery technology.

The conference thus provided a valuable platform where businesses, politicians and public authorities could jointly coordinate ideas, concepts and collaborations — an important step towards successfully addressing the challenges of the mobility transition and structural change in the automotive industry at a regional level.

As part of the transformation networks funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE), transform.r makes a significant contribution to the sustainable and forward-looking reorientation of the automotive and mobility sector in Eastern Bavaria through events such as this one.
