Step by Step Toward Smart Manufacturing

Cluster on-site at syskomp gehmeyr GmbH

On March 11, 2026, syskomp gehmeyr GmbH in Amberg opened its doors for the latest edition of our “Cluster on Site” event. Focusing on the topic of manual automation, guests from the Cluster Mobility & Logistics gained an exclusive insight into modern, step-by-step manufacturing solutions—right in the company’s assembly hall.

Managing Director Till Vogels welcomed the participants and provided a brief overview of the strategic direction of syskomp gehmeyr GmbH. On behalf of the Cluster Mobility & Logistics, Steve Schumann, Project Manager, accompanied the event. Markus Reißer and Daniel Meindl then presented the company in detail. syskomp gehmeyr has over 50 years of experience in assembly technology and industrial automation and, with locations in Amberg, Regensburg, and Medingen as well as international partnerships, is an established player in the DACH region.

The event focused on the concept of manual automation - a hybrid manufacturing approach that specifically combines manual work processes with automation technologies. The idea: companies do not have to switch to full automation immediately, but can modernize their production step-by-step, in a modular and cost-efficient manner. From ergonomically optimized manual workstations to robot-assisted processes, the concept offers maximum flexibility and scalability.

Markus Reißer and Daniel Meindl then guided the guests through the assembly hall and demonstrated the solutions in live operation. Participants were able to experience firsthand how modern assembly processes are designed to be efficient, ergonomic, and innovative:

Efficiency & Quality: Cobot support, AI-assisted error checking, and intelligent worker guidance reduce labor costs, increase quality, and minimize error rates.

Ergonomics & Safety: KLT lifting devices and the SG monomover relieve employees of the burden of heavy lifting, while intelligent industrial screwdrivers ensure consistently precise operations.

Material Flow: Roller conveyors, curves, and modular conveyor systems ensure flexible and space-saving material flow along the entire production line.

Innovation in action: A particular highlight was a new compact industrial screwdriver with integrated controls—a solution that makes the assembly process even simpler, more space-efficient, and more efficient.

Following the tour, participants took the opportunity to engage in in-depth discussions with one another as well as with experts from syskomp gehmeyr and Steve Schumann, project manager at the Cluster Mobility & Logistics. The numerous discussions demonstrated once again how valuable direct insight into practical operations and personal contact between member companies are.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Till Vogels, Markus Reißer, and Daniel Meindl, as well as the entire team at syskomp gehmeyr GmbH, for their hospitality and the fascinating insight into their manufacturing world!
