07/23/2025

Current challenges and potential for cooperation

On June 21, 2025, the Cluster Mobility & Logistics held a workshop on the topic of the bicycle industry in the Regensburg region. The aim of the workshop was to bring together key players in the bicycle sector, identify current challenges, and explore potential areas of cooperation for the future development of sustainable urban mobility.

After a welcome by cluster manager Uwe Pfeil, Julia Dick, project manager in the cluster, gave an overview of the bicycle stakeholders in the region. Her analysis formed the basis for the subsequent workshop work. Benedikt Bäuml from 2lock gave a keynote speech, introducing further perspectives and showing how technological innovations can bring about lasting change in the bike industry. In an open brainstorming session, the participants collected specific challenges and initial solutions, which were then structured together. In the subsequent group workshop, the participants worked on possible interfaces, cooperation formats, and necessary framework conditions. The results were presented in short pitches and discussed together in a final round.

The desire for stronger regional networking and concrete project approaches became clear. Julia Dick concluded the event with considerations on potential further measures for sustainable bicycle mobility in the region.
