On May 22, 2025, the Cluster Mobility & Logistics visited the Technology Campus (TC) Cham at the Deggendorf Institute of Technology. The exchange focused on current research projects and innovative approaches in robotics using artificial intelligence.
After a brief welcome and introduction to TechBase and cluster activities, Matthias Hien, scientific director of TC Cham, presented the site's central fields of research: intelligent robotics and intelligent production. Particularly exciting: starting in the summer semester of 2025, an international master's program in “Intelligent Robotics” will begin at the campus.
Algorithms and software for robotic systems are developed in the Intelligent Robotics Lab. One focus is on universal software solutions for so-called cobots, which can be used in various areas of application. Topics such as reinforcement learning, energy-efficient control of four-legged robots, and innovative solutions for automated bin picking were the focus of the lab tour.
The visit to TC Cham offered exciting insights into the practical research carried out at Deggendorf Institute of Technology and showed how application-oriented science and the regional economy are working together to find solutions for the mobility and production of tomorrow. Close cooperation within the Cluster Mobility & Logistics network remains an important driver of innovation and technology transfer.
