On October 6, 2025, the official kick-off workshop for the ZIM innovation network “M-AIR” took place. Around 20 participants from industry and academia gathered to officially launch a new innovation network dedicated to a highly topical issue: the use of multimodal AI in intralogistics.
An introduction to the objectives and structure of the ZIM network was followed by interactive working sessions in which initial project ideas were developed and potential areas of cooperation between industry partners and research institutions were identified. The shared goal of empowering SMEs in the region to integrate multimodal AI technologies into logistics applications—and thereby driving practical innovations along the entire value chain—became particularly clear.
The workshop highlighted the significant interest in AI-based assistance systems, data-driven decision-making models, and generative automation in intralogistics—as well as the potential inherent in networking regional expertise.
In closing, we would like to sincerely thank all participants for the engaging exchange and the valuable insights. Together with our partners from industry and academia, we look forward to the next steps in the M-AIR network—and to actively shaping the future of intralogistics through the targeted use of multimodal AI.
