On October 15, 2025, the “VDA on Site” event took place at Aumovio Regensburg. The Cluster Mobility & Logistics was represented by Cluster Manager Uwe Pfeil and Project Manager Steve Schumann.
Following opening remarks by Alexandra Bornemann, Plant Manager at Aumovio Regensburg, participants gained fascinating insights into the facility and current innovation projects.
Andreas Rade, Managing Director of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), led the program and moderated the concluding panel discussion.
Holger Czuday from Bayern Innovativ opened the session on “Networks in Bavaria and Regensburg” and highlighted current developments and future prospects for the Bavarian automotive supply industry.
Uwe Pfeil from the Cluster Mobility & Logistics then presented the strengths of Regensburg’s innovation ecosystem—with projects such as:
- the collaboration between Sonplas and Webasto to establish a hybrid battery module production line,
- the R_Lab real-world laboratory as a digital test bed for urban mobility.
Further insights followed from Dr. Georg Schwab (AVL Software and Functions) on next-generation E/E architectures and from Christian Wallstabe (Wallstabe & Schneider), who gave an impressive account of the transformation of a family-owned business.
The event concluded with an engaging panel discussion featuring State Secretary Tobias Gotthardt (StMWi), Dr. Georg Schwab (AVL), Christian Wallstabe (Wallstabe & Schneider), Olga Redda (IG Metall Regensburg), and Dr. Bernd Eckardt (Fraunhofer IISB).
