On Wednesday, July 13, 2022, the Mobility & Logistics Cluster, together with the Upper Palatinate Digital Startup Initiative (DGO) and TechBase, hosted the 11th Bavarian Innovation Congress, focusing on the theme “Smart City.”
To advance the Smart City concept, there must be close coordination and project-based collaboration among urban and regional development experts, economic development agencies, local and regional stakeholders in the business community, and policymakers. For this reason, four expert forums held as part of the congress explored not only how the “Smart City” concept can be advanced through technological innovations but also what strategic objectives are needed in the areas of mobility and logistics, the startup scene, the municipal sector, and at the Bavarian level.
A brief welcome address by Cluster Manager Uwe Pfeil was followed by an engaging panel discussion moderated by Alexander Rupprecht, Managing Director of R-Tech GmbH. Participants in the discussion included Prof. Dr. Georg Stephan Barfuß, Advisor for Economy, Science, and Finance and Full-Time City Council Member for the City of Regensburg; Georg Kern, Managing Director of PB Consult GmbH; and Dr. Susan Lindner, Head of Digitalization at Bayern Innovativ.
The lunch break provided an opportunity to network in a relaxed atmosphere, while the concurrent trade exhibition offered insights into the diverse implementation possibilities of the Smart City concept. All exhibitors are listed below.
In four specialized forums, participants were able to gain in-depth insights into a wide variety of topics related to smart cities. You can find a list of all forums and speakers here:
