Quantum computing meets artificial intelligence – opportunities, risks, and challenges

On May 23, 2025, the Cluster Mobility & Logistics hosted the webinar “Quantum Computing Meets Artificial Intelligence.” Numerous participants from institutions and companies gained in-depth insights into the potential, challenges, and concrete applications of quantum computing and AI.

After a welcome by Uwe Pfeil (Cluster Mobility & Logistics), Steve Schumann (project manager) took over as moderator of the webinar.
Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Mauerer (OTH Regensburg) opened with a presentation entitled “Quantum Computing – Hype vs. Potential” and provided a scientific assessment of the technology and its current and future applications. This was followed by Dr. Vanessa Junk (Optware GmbH) with her presentation “The quantum computer is coming – future technology explained simply,” in which she presented a practical project and showed how companies can gain initial experience with quantum computing.

In the concluding Q&A session, Petra Eichenseher (OTH Regensburg) and Dr. Vanessa Junk provided valuable insights into the participants' questions and future development opportunities.

Conclusion:
The webinar was held under the title Quantum pulses Regensburg – Exchange. Cooperation. Future. and showed that there is great interest in quantum and AI technologies in the region. The aim is to further consolidate this interest in the future and to promote regular exchange and joint projects through the initiative.
