On April 23, 2026, the event “Business Invitation: Transatlantic Synergies in Smart City & Mobility” took place in Regensburg. The goal was to foster exchange between Bavarian companies and a business delegation from Canada’s York Region (Ontario) and to create concrete opportunities for international collaboration.
The focus was on connecting stakeholders from the fields of mobility, environmental sensing, system design, and automation. Participating companies had the opportunity to present their solutions through pitch sessions and engage directly with potential partners from Canada. The program was complemented by targeted networking sessions that deepened the technical exchange.
York Region is one of Canada’s leading innovation hubs in the field of connected and automated mobility. Through the involvement of the Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN), targeted bridges were built between the innovation ecosystems in Bavaria and Ontario. The focus was particularly on approaches to further developing smart mobility solutions as well as on the internationalization of technologies and business models.
As the venue, RUBINA in Regensburg provided a suitable setting for exchange between the business community, the public sector, and innovation stakeholders. The compact format with a limited number of participants enabled intensive dialogue and targeted discussions.
The event highlighted the importance of international cooperation for the further development of smart city and mobility solutions. In particular, direct exchange with international partners offers companies the opportunity to tap into new markets and further develop innovation potential in a targeted manner.
Note:
The event was part of the Digital Innovation Ostbayern (DInO) project, which is one of three European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH) in Bavaria. The project focuses on digital transformation in SMEs and public administrations. As part of DInO, the Cluster Mobility & Logistics provides support for the services “Innovation Ecosystem & Networking” and “Support to Find Financing and Investment.”
